MIssion statement

The purpose of Active Arts at Duke City Dojo is four-fold:

1) to teach Aikido, a Japanese martial art, and the promotion and dissemination of Aikido through support of its members’ activities, its own activities, the registration of individual member dan (black belt) ranks with the international registry in Japan, and communication and cooperation with other local, national and international martial arts organizations;

2) to teach Tai Chi Chuan, a Chinese martial art and meditative practice, and the promotion and dissemination of Tai Chi Chuan through support of its members’ activities, its own activities, and communication and cooperation with other local, national and international martial arts organizations;

3) to teach yoga, a physical and meditative practice, and the promotion and dissemination of yoga through support of its members’ activities, its own activities, and communication and cooperation with other local, national and international yoga organizations; and

4) to provide donation-based self-defense seminars and clinics to the local community, the proceeds of which will be donated to local charities, including but not limited to, organizations dedicated to helping survivors of domestic abuse, racial injustice, and at-risk youth.
